Event Name: Manzana Canyon Trail Base Camp Trip.
Trip Type: Base Camp Trip.
Description: This is a family-friendly all ages week long trip open to all skill levels and abilities. The work to be performed will be variable according to skills and circumstance. Food will be provided for Friday Dinner through Sunday lunch. Crews will hike in to the base camp spot about 3-5 miles one way and arrive back at the base camp at around 4 or 5 PM.

(Where) Manzana Canyon, Los Padres National Forest
(Meeting place) Nira Camp Ground
(Meeting Time) : 7:00 AM Saturday Morning
(Work Location) Manzana Canyon approximately three miles in from trail head Given the extreme weather and water damage camp the camp location and work has changed.
(What) The goal of this trip is to clear the trail so the public can access the National Forest, most of the work will be clearing trails involving cutting trees, brush and some tread work.
(Why) The Manzana Trail has been getting washed out and choked off by brush and in a few spots is becoming difficult to follow. keeping the trails open to public access ia a important part of our mission to ensure public access to public lands.
(How) Experienced crew leaders will lead and train volunteers in general trail maintenance techniques and safe usage of hand tools. All safety equipment for trail work will be provided. Please come prepared with long pants, long sleeve shirt and boots along with a 1-2 liter water bottle and a day pack. More detailed information will be sent to you after signing up.
Activities: Most trail construction will consist of hand work. This will include construction of stairs, building the trail bed, construction of water bars, bucking of down trees, brushing of overgrown portions of the trail, and other standard trail construction needs dictated by the lay of the trail. Materials such as rock, wood or earth will be used to construct these structures. Dead brush may be dragged to the site to help break the visual line of the path or cover reroutes.
